While driving in, the first thing I noticed is all the wonderful nature surrounding the town. Located in between two forests and right on the Indre River, I had to start with something outdoors. The first thing I enjoyed was fishing on the Indre River. It's amazing how much the community likes to be on the river not to mention to tourists kayaking on the river.
After having fished on the river I decided to go to the next part of Châteauroux which was le Château de Bouges. This château is not the largest that I have come across in France but the beauty aspect of the building and the outdoor grounds was just as great. The château has been around since 1765 and one can only imagine the difficulty and the amount of work that went into each part of the château. One of the more popular features of the chateau is the fact that it has been a part of a film called Le Colonel Charbert. It was a great visit.
In this small town there are a number of festivals that occur throughout the year. They have a number of music festivals but unfortunately there wasn't any going on right now. Lucky for me there is a tennis competition to attend that will be a great event to meet more people from this area.
In addition to watching some tennis in town, I couldn't miss a soccer match by the local football team. The team is currently part of the second league in France. Named locally, FB Chatearoux, in 2004 they were able to make it to the UEFA Cup which is a widely known competition internationally. Although they were eliminated in the first round, the game was worth all the sweat they dedicated to the team.
My trip in France has come to an end and I must say I learned so much about the different places in France that most people don't even notice. Visiting areas outside of Paris and large cities definitely opened my eyes as to what is available in this country for tourists and how much there is out there. I hope you all enjoyed my posts during my visit.
Au Revoir et Merci beaucoup!
